Re: Why AREN\'T You Vegetarian?
[ QUOTE ]
My ancestors worked hard to get to the top of the food chain and I don’t want to let them down. [/ QUOTE ] For that matter, the animals we have been able to husband and raise commercially have also hit the evolutionary jackpot. When we colonize space, we're taking chicken with us. And there is no way those bird brains would have gotten off the planet otherwise. |

If animals weren't meant to be eaten, why are they made of delicious meat?

Re: Why AREN\'T You Vegetarian?
OP,
I am a human being. Human beings are omnivores. Omnivores eat plants and animals. If you argued most of us should eat a lot more plants and less animals, I would agree. If you argued we should eat less cows for our own health as well as to use earth's resources more efficiently I would agree. What about creatures like oysters or shrimp? I find it difficult to argue cruelty in eating them. There is also a lot of effort to control the harvesting of shellfish so they are self sustaining. Same no cruelty argument for crab, lobsters, and especially stone crab claws. Sklansky recently argued perhaps we should consider not eating pigs, because they are so smart. Calmb4storm, eat some fish and shellfish. Mix in some chicken. Eat some beef sparingly if you want to remain environmentally conscious. These animals are great sources of things our body needs such as iron, protein, and Omega3 fatty acids. Vegeterians take this stuff way too seriously. A bunch of chickens or shrimp honestly aren't all that much smarter than a bag of oranges. Peace, KennyBanya |

Re: Why AREN\'T You Vegetarian?
[ QUOTE ]
Also, do you know how crazy the world would become if no animals were ever killed by humans for food? It would be insane. I would be afraid to leave my house. [/ QUOTE ] So many Responses in these threads are so poor and illogical. But I don't think anyone actualy makes a concious decision to eat meat. And I don't think anyone actualy cares about this thread. I don't think many people have done more than 30 minutes of research on the subject. I was going to post a serious reply in this thread, but nobody takes this stuff seriously anyway. |
