WPX is the only entity putting downward pressure on the substantial and nonsensical cost of playing poker online.

You know what? Nobody cares about this; virtually nobody outside of a very scant handful on 2+2. Check out WPX's traffic since their inception, particularly since Party, etc. pulled out. PokerStars up, Full Tilt up, on and on - WPX is down. In the beginning of November, WPX was averaged 320 people at the tables at any given time; in December, this had fallen to 240. You can blame the holidays, but PokerStars grew during this time and Full Tilt was slightly up as well. Go to January, WPX still didn't grow.

Rake simply is not a big deal - or even a very small deal - to most poker players.

Why do you think rake is not a big deal? If you're playing limit, then you will find out how much rake you're donating to PS or FT.

STFU if you don't know about anything.

haha he just gave evidence to support the fact that the common poker player, and even most educated ones, think there are other factors more important than rake.

how about this: you tell me why, if rake is such a huge deal, WPX poker has been such a failure?

Their software was abominable for months after they went rakefree. Virtually unplayable with bugs like allowing people to play without paying the blinds, folding your cards for you at random times, disconnecting you and folding your cards even if you had an interest in the pot. The hand history function didn't work half the time, and many other problems.

They completely wasted any positive word of mouth that started to spread when they announced they were going rakefree.

Now, the software is decent, but the site has a horrible reputation as the toughest place to play on the internet. And, the site doesn't allow HUDs, or more than 4 tables, further limiting the customer base.

I think if WSEX continues to improve their software and server connectivity, then the site will grow.

I love the lack of HUDs and the 4 table max. It's so much more about playing poker there to me than when I go play at Stars. They've given me more than $26,000 in rakeback for my part-time one and two tabling there. Thanks, WSEX!

Site is tough-Hell yeah, it's a rock garden, but if you can't win, just blame yourself.

Rake is not a big deal-Hell yeah, it's only a couple hundred a week playing 3 hours one table a day for couple days. It's not a big deal.

I would go back to party the day it opened back up for US players. No other pokersite compares to party.

Like everyone else said, they processed my withdraw with no problems when they pulled out, and I got to use all my party points still.

I didnt like party when I played there but I would play there if they opened back up just for game selection alone. I think that WSEX shouldnt be rake free but should be like 1% rake with a cap of like $1-2 so they can generate income as well as have revenue to to advertise and create a quality cardroom. I wanted to play there in the past but as soon as I saw the software and the traffic I was like what is the point. A competitive rake is the way to go in my mind.

1. Rake IS a big deal.

2. The average poker player (aka a losing player) barely even notices or cares about the rake. They are oblivious to the fact that most of their funds will end up in the rake box. This is one of the many reasons they are in fact losing players.

Limit rake is particularly bad, as it takes many many hands and many many pots to get a bad player's funds.

I would go out of my way to support companies that stuck with us

[/ QUOTE ]

World Sports/Poker Exchange, whose founder started this thread, has gone farther out of their way to support "us" than any other gambling entity, yet only a couple of hundred of "us" make their way to play cards there any given day.

[/ QUOTE ]

Because when "us" goes there to play, we just find more of "us" already there. I want less of "us" and more of "them". Whomever supplies more of "them" will get the rest of "us".
