Keep in mind the Vegas market and midwest markets have many differences. The effects of the changes that the Mirage made might of been totally different in the midwest market. Many more regular players throughout the midwest.

Comparing STL to KC is a little unfair since STL is a bigger market. I'm glad you like the changes we made and we are working to continue to improve. I basically designed the STL room from scratch and had the players in mind throughout the planning process. I am very happy with the end result and the action in the room has been great.
Regarding Omaha....Hopefully this doesn't get to long, lol. I am very familiar with the game and dealt it for years back in the day. The problem is there are not enough players around to justify spreading it. I have had a total of 10 players ask me for Omaha in the last 6 months between STL and KC. If there was more interest I would consider it, but I don't see that happening. I would love to start a bigger limit game but that seems to be difficult also. The N/L action has absolutely killed all the mid limit action everywhere I have been. I'm always open to a new game but there has got to be some demand for it. |

[/ QUOTE ] The $10-20 is dead for all practical purposes at Caesar's IN. In the last couple of years it has gone from multiple tables running every evening to sometimes one table on the weekend. The only regular occurring O/8 game I know is at Casino Aztar on Tuesdays. It is $10-20 with a half kill. There is a large PLO game at Caesar's every Wednesday and usually Fridays. |

No limit has killed virtually everything and it sucks.
Mirage used to spread 6-12. I suppose they still do but the last 5 trips I've made saw only one 6-12 game, and that was during the day. 3-6 still exists and sometimes 10-20 or a bigger game. We all know that NL killed virtually every non-holdem game in the country. Welcome to your new WPT dumbed-down america. The mid limits hardly exist in vegas anymore because your local game-starter players can just peddle the nuts at nl for the same profit, less risk. Too many cardrooms compounds the problem by spreading out the players too much. This has the effect of driving down the limits too. Mismanagement of cardrooms by casino execs who don't know poker doesn't help. Prime examples are all the cardrooms packed away in a corner where no "real gamblers" will be bothered by them. Spreading limits too close together also kills action and lowers limits. MGM spreading 2-4, 3-6, and 4-8 half kill - prime example. Rare to find anything higher. Special mention to venetian for stupid structures (8-16 with $4 chips, instead of $2 like it should be) and for killing 3-6, 6-12, 9-18 (good) for 2-4, 4-8, 8-16, 15-30 (bad). Nowadays it's usually only 2-4 and 4-8. |

Brian,
Thank you very much for taking the time to post on here. As a recreational player that averages just a few sessions each month, and oscillates between the 2-5 and 1-2 games, I really do appreciate the changes you’ve made. I agree with your stance on the 1-2 game. In the long-term it’s going to make a nice feeder game to the "big" game. In the meantime, the play is just atrocious at 1-2. As the Station mentioned, the glass wall that was installed was just a fabulous addition. It keeps the noise and smoke way down in the poker room. Now if we could just keep the smokers a few feet from the room opening... Regarding Omaha; I travel the country for work quite a bit. Consequently I find myself in poker rooms far and wide. I think you might be surprised if you introduced Omaha to the KC room. Perhaps you could first introduce it as a mixed HA game? I know I’d throw my name up on the interest list. There are a few healthy and often played HA games in Oklahoma City. Thanks again for taking the time. |

I have been going to Harrah's, KC, for a while now.
(Don't really like Ameristar or Argosy) Station, I'm hard to miss. The white guy with long dreadlocks usually at a 1-2 or 2-5 table. Cheers. |

Brian,
I also offer my thanks for feedback in this forum. I am by no means a regular, but do plan on playing the new 5-10nl game. Played this Thursday and enjoyed it. My only concern is running it twice a week. I really don't think it will be able to run that long. I guess it's just selfish on my part as I can only commute one day a week, but I really feel it would be better as a once-a-week game. Also, any way you can allow players to listen to music while playing? I never understood this rule. All-in-all, I think since you have taken over the room is A LOT more tolerable to play in and keep up the good work. ps... Al, why all the hate towards the new generation of WPT superstar hold them players? You must not like money too much? |

Brian -
I just want to echo the sentiments of the other posters who play in KC. I only play maybe once a month, but I always choose Harrah's. The glass wall has been a great addition. Anytime I have played lately, the 2/5 seems just like Station described - more regulars but still soft. I had no idea about the 5/10, I may start coming in for that game more often. Is it only 1 table, long wait or what? |

Thanks for the compliment guys.
Regarding the 5/10 N/L.... I think that if it just stays at 2 days a week it will be fine for awhile, I don't anticipate it ever going more than that. If it starts to get weak we will cut it back to once a week. |
