[ QUOTE ]
There is no doubt that the black community in the US makes life more "colorful". On the other hand, if you get stabbed and robbed at night, chances are it will be a black guy.

[/ QUOTE ]

Coincidentally or not, you picked just about the only crime for which your statement might be accurate. Link to 2005 UCR. Gambling is the only other number above 50% for blacks, while murder and prostitution are the only other ones above 40%.

[ QUOTE ]
Poverty leads to crime, so moving the poor blacks back to Africa would drastically lower the crime rate in the US and maybe even save a few lives.

[/ QUOTE ]

It may or may not save a few lives among the people left behind. It would almost certainly cost many thousands of lives (and probably much more) among the people being shipped to Africa. I'm guessing that's not a significant concern of yours, though.

[ QUOTE ]
Funny, isn't it?

[/ QUOTE ]

Exiling poor people to solve poverty? You think this is a novel, interesting, or practical idea? In other words, yes, it's very funny.

[ QUOTE ]
You can't do it of course, because there is an unwritten moral codex that doesn't allow stuff like that.

[/ QUOTE ]

There's nothing unwritten about proscriptions for kidnapping, genius.

Would it be wrong to say that america would be a better country if blacks had never been moved here from Africa?

You're begging the question, but if we pretend that there was no, or less, prejudice in the crowd, I'd say it has more to do with the fact that a large percentage of TV shows are now dominated by blacks, as compared to even as recent as the 80's. "White America" sees these shows so often that there becomes more of a feeling of familiarity and acceptance with Black Americans.

Also, White people aren't the only ones that have the capacity to hate blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and Middle Easterners.

This one is easy. People arent stupid enough to say stuff anymore, they know its far far less acceptable. Also, high ratio = less white people to defend you in a brawl. Hit up hawiian gardens in carson CA if you want to hear some words traded from all the minorities, note: all the white people are smart enough to shut their mouths there too

...I understand that it is easier to be polite when you are a millionaire...

[/ QUOTE ]

What does this mean? Are all the people in Vegas at All-Star weekend millionaires? Were the players polite? Do only black millionaires come to All-Star weekend? I really don't understand.

I come up with Sklansky-style cold hearted vulcan logic and you call me genius. Now I know how David must feel.

Chump, Brock, D:

I believe he's referring to customers at the poker room in the Bellagio.

I think he's referring to casino customers in general. The number of black people in the Bellagio poker room was definitely nowhere near 40%.

Racism stems from, among many things, boredom.

Boredom was not likely to be found in Vegas last weekend.

Also stems from needing someone to blame for all of your problems.

Casinos and dealers are much easier targets.

[ QUOTE ]
During this All Star weekend, I noticed that about 40% of the customers were black. Normally its about 15%. But in spite of the fact that the crowds were a lot younger and blacker than usual, I never detected a hint of prejudice. No incidents, or even subtle actions or aloofness. I understand that it is easier to be polite when you are a millionaire, but I'm old enough to remember when there was always at least some signs of discomfort in situations like these.

So does that mean that this country has become basically colorblind? Possibly. But I have another theory. I believe that the acceptance of black people has been accelerated by the fact that white people's prejudice are now focused on Middle Easterners (because of terrorism) and Hispanics (because of illegal aliens). Add that to the fact that whites have noticed how many black people have died, along with white people, both at the World Trade Center, and fighting in Iraq, and you have a situation where mild bigots look elsewhere. If so this is one small silver lining regarding the otherwise unpleasant events of the last few years. Agree or disagree?

[/ QUOTE ] Agree and you discussed them in order of importance. But the change in culture is part of the reason for the differnece you saw.
