One thing I have learned is that when I tell a random what I do it's a great test to see if they are worth talking to.

The first group of people immediately think im sick. If someone thinks im a degen because I play poker, i'd rather not interact with them anyway.

Then there are those that immediately ask how much I make. Don't care about those people either.

Finally, you are left with the people that ask intelligent questions. They will always get around to asking about money, but it's usually something like "so you can make a good living of it then", or words to that effect. Those are the people that are worth explaining it to.

Also, when someone tells you about someone they know made X, it's just them sharing their experience. Most will know someone who plays and has done well.

I tell people I'm an investor. I make far less money than you and am not investing in anything (other than some money in retirement accunts,) but I do own some real estate/stock market books, and I'm sure if I ever felt like it I could invest. Therefore, I'm an investor. This goes over much better with chicks than "professional poker player."

Step 2: Have conversation where u seem totally despondent about your life, "yeah, im kinda giving poker a go, its not ideal yknow but..." and trail off, make sure at this point you are wearing second hand clothes. Then seem envious to almost dangerous extents about their life/their poker playing friends life.

Step 3: finish conversation. They say "keep your head up man", you say "yeah dude, maybe ill catch u around"

Step 4: walk off with your head slumped, dragging your feet, get into said lambo, drive off with depressed look on your face bumping some song with balla in the title.
