Re: Favorite line or two from a song (NOT entire verse!)
my bud Bill Mallonee wrote these lines in the song Resplendent - (Emmylou Harris sang backup on it)
Honey we're all resplendent, yah honey we are all thrift store Like a wino with a twenty dollar bill, forever and eternally yours" There's a line from a Townes Van Zandt tune called My Proud Mountains that almost chokes me up when I sing it - (practicing for a TVZ tribute show in Mpls in March) - I think it summarizes up my life pretty well. Well, I sometimes went hungry, with my pockets all bare Lord, I sometimes had good luck, with money to spare" |

She don't like losing, to her it's still a game
And though she will [censored] up your life, You'll want her just the same, and now I know She has a built in ability To take everything she sees And now it seems I've fallen, fallen for her. |

Re: Favorite line or two from a song (NOT entire verse!)
[ QUOTE ]
I sat here for ten minutes trying to decide, and couldn't come up with any that stand out over the others. But I was reminded of a story from my youth. It was the mid-80's, and I was down at the local poolroom, waiting for the rest of the regulars to arrive so we could start our afternoon game of Hearts. One of the old guys says, "I watched 'Saturday Night Live' last night. They had this guy Hammer as the musical guest. He kept singing, 'Too legit, too legit to quit! Too legit, too legit to quit!' I kept waiting for the next verse, but that was it, the same line over and over. 'Too legit, too legit to quit!' "This guy's another Ira Gershwin!" [/ QUOTE ] Awesome |

[ QUOTE ]
The memories of a man in his old age, Are the deeds of a man in his prime. [/ QUOTE ] The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older. Shorter of breath and one day closer to death. I could fill this thread with hundreds of Dead and Floyd lyrics. |
