Re: Would your favorite team winning a world championship bring tears.
I guess the upside to being a Celtics fan is that I won't ever cry over a sporting event.
Only thing I've ever cried over was Reggie Lewis dying. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I cried when the Colts won on Sunday. I knew it was going to happen too. I suggested earlier in the day that a good prop bet would be who cried first, me or my friends 4 year old daughter. [/ QUOTE ] How's about when Marv gave his speech at the Rally, that got me to tears. For a guy of so few words to spend some on the fans and say thank you was, to me, very moving. Cody [/ QUOTE ] The part where his teammates had to drag him to the podium and he looked uncomfortable and embarrassed? I thought that was more hilariously awesome than touching. Marvin rules. [/ QUOTE ] Oh come on Rov, the didn't drag him, the were just messing around, and that smile on his face was priceless. Cody [/ QUOTE ] yeah it was, i didn't mean it as a negative. i meant he was reluctant to go up there and had to be pushed to it by his teammates, which was funny and pretty cool. [/ QUOTE ] Oh yeah, I was laughing pretty hard when he came up and everyone went nuts, then he tried to leave and the roar just got louder. You just knew he wasn't gonna get away. Cody |

Re: Would your favorite team winning a world championship bring tears.
My sister went to Ohio State for grad-school and cared not one iota about the sports teams. I think it was 98 that they got upset at home by MSU dashing their title-hopes.
She probably only knew that OSU had a game that day but later on she was watching old men sobbing in the streets because their team had blown it. I think fan loyalty to this extreme is probably unhealthy. That said, I grew up going to every Miami (Ohio) hoops game. Didn't miss a single home-game for several years as a kid. I later worked in the athletics department for a spell. I was court-side in 99 at the Superdome in New Orleans when Wally Szezberiak led Miami to opening round upsets of 7 seed Washington and 2 seed Utah and I admit to tearing up a little that my team was going to the Sweet 16. It was incredibly exciting and emotional. Others on the staff were far more teary than I was. |

Re: Would your favorite team winning a world championship bring tears...
No. But it was definitely the pinncacle of the NFL for me. Once it happened, I kinda lost interest in the NFL. I did throughly enjoy that game.(Bucs v Raiders) Might've been coupled with the fact that the team was the biggest joke in the NFL for a long ass time.
