ok and for the answer to this question, let me see if I can rattle of the entire list. I'll try to keep it in roughly chronological order: soldier (got drafted so i don't know if this counts), gravedigger, owned a moving company, truck driver, ups guy/other delivery stuff, bartender until he got sick of it, started up a landscaping/irrigation company (this one sucked because we got hit with a drought that summer, sprinklers got banned and they were a majority of their work), driver for a private taxi-co, and now aspiring deli manager/owner basically this is as good an argument i can think of for finishing college [/ QUOTE ] No shame in blue collar friend. I come from generations of farmers and peasants and am proud of it. **EDIT** I aint saying you're ashamed of your dad, just pointing out that there's nothing wrong with the work he's done. |

Bit of a hijack, but didn't see the necessity of starting a new post.
For those of you whose dad's have passed away, how did you deal with it? I see my dad getting older and I can't imagine how I will be able to deal with his death. |

[/ QUOTE ] no worries, i'm not ashamed at all. i guess what i meant was that as he gets older, he's finding his job options more and more limited, and i feel like many things he would like to do he can't because he never finished college all those years ago. i have to admit though that this probably isn't his main problem and that i didn't phrase what i said well at all. |

[/ QUOTE ] I get what you mean. Watching my dad busting his hump in a factory 12 hours a day, 6 days a week kinda motivated me to hit the books a little harder. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] beats up your dad [/ QUOTE ] my dad is very large and aggresive, so this seems unlikely is he a pro wrestler? [/ QUOTE ] My dad is a retired Green Beret. I watched him make my good friend (all state defensive tackle) call him uncle in about 3 seconds. I reiterate, my dad can beat up your dad. [/ QUOTE ] Nice set up. You were just waiting for someone to say his dad could beat up yours. |
