I just called the Tournament Director (John) at the Gold Strike. He told me that all of the events are scheduled for two days: they play down to the final table or until 2AM on the first day, whichever comes first, and then conclude starting at 4PM on the second day.

Absolutely would enjoy getting together for both socializing and poker. I have a poker pal flying in from Chicago on the 5th and I plan on driving over from Atlanta to pick her up in Memphis. (You may have played stud with her at FTP or Stars. Her nickname is Cpower.)

This is really starting to sound like it will be a great trip. Now if only the weather will cooperate and let me get a round or two of golf in.

Yeah, that's Johnny Grooms (in case anybody didn't know) who ran the 2005 WSOP. Seems like a great guy. Everybody likes him alot.

Cpower...hmmm...doesn't ring a bell.

You live in Atlanta? I have met quite a few folks from there who drive over to Tunica.

The golf should be pretty good. Maybe the temps will stay pleasant. I've been wearing short sleeves all week if that's any consolation.

We're adding 18 more tables.

Excellent.

A couple of us are coming into town on the 5th. We plan on staying at the Grand and playing in the WPO 7 card stud event on January 7th at the Gold Strike. We'll be in Tunica until the 9th/10th and will be looking for stud games wherever they're spreading them. Hopefully, you can get some going on your extra tables at the Horseshoe. If you spread either 5/10, 10/20 or 15/30 stud, I guarantee our group will be there.

As for a 2+2 mixed game, we'd be interested as long as it doesn't conflict with the stud tourney.

We are really looking forward to having a fun time in Tunica!

With all due respect to Chipr777's room and all his extra tables: My extremely uneducated hunch is that higher cash stud games might be more likely to run at the Gold Strike.

They set up 80+ extra tables for this.
Most of these are used for tourneys and satellites of course...but they do tend to get some of the bigger cash action through January as well.

But now that chipr777 has heard your request for mid-stakes stud perhaps it will somehow become a reality over there.

Why do I even care? I don't even play stud.

Bob, you are correct that they set up many more tables, rooms full in fact for sats & side games. Last year at GS, they had stud games going as high as 75/150 is what I had heard thru the grapevine. One of the dealers told me that the 100/200 PLO games had an average buyin of probably $250k. gamboool, gamboool, gamboool

Chipr777 works at the Horseshoe poker-room

WORK ? I have never seen this guy actually work. Oh sure - he lounges around the cardroom, tells people what to do, chats up the tourists, etc. But work?

Even when he used to deal ---- he never gave me a starting hand.

haha - T.D. See ya in a couple weeks.
Now, lets see if we can get a 6-12 mixed game going.
