i would prb ship it since its fair game imo. but if u dont think any money at a poker table is fair game, then u should just sit out. objectively, ure still taking his money, even if u send it back afterwards. if u think he would do the same to you, i think its fine from an ethical standpoint to just sit there and ship it tho (ship the kantian ethics)

obv the guy sat out when he saw durrr. since he knew his EV in this match was about $200 (out of $2000), he thought he should just blind off and hope durrr felt sorry and sent money back. therefore, send him $100 and he won't do it again.

keep the money and its not close...its not your problem. 1k is a lot of money, you can't be donating back to people all the time when they make mistakes. if you knew him obviously its a lot different, but for an unknown...too bad. pay more attention when your'e playing high stakes sngs.

for those who wouldn't give him the money,

if you didn't know him in the least; if he later contacted you at a table and was like "man, my computer/internet connection/whatever completely crapped out that night when i was registered for that 1k sng...";

would you now send him back most/all of his money, or would you continue to keep all of it?

Default Buddha Speaks

The answer to this question, in my humble opinion, lies in another question...Imagine the roles are completely reversed. In you wildest dream of an ideal world, what would you want your opponent to do for you? Answer this question and you have found your solution.

Speculating on the fact that most others would not return your money is not fruitful. Who cares what others would do to you. Treat them as you wish yourself to be treated. Maybe in your ideal scenario people would return the full buyin, if that is what you wish would happen, be the source of that, and return the money.

If you are in doubt, why not contact the player and ask him what he thinks is fair.

Lastly, if you think this answer is worthless, at least consider the fruit that would come from taking this approach. Imagine a world where instead of people thinking things like, "others deserve nothing more than I speculate they would offer me", they started thinking things like "however I wish others would treat me, I will treat others". Forget the staus quo and be the source of optimum solutions.

Perhaps the same thing happened to him and he was dumping off the guilty money to you.
