For me If it is going to be at least 5 ways everytime and 6 a lot I call with any pair any suited connector 54 and up

[/ QUOTE ]

Not sure if I like the idea of paying 3 bets preflop with speculative hands, especially if the players are semi-rational postflop.

[/ QUOTE ]

There is no difference between 3 bets or 1 bet or 10 bets. With the 54s and the 89s are you afraid your going to make a pair and not have it hold up? Your either going to make 2 pair trips a straight or a flush or your not.

[/ QUOTE ]

Mike,
would you rather have 98s in this spot than KQs? This is a serious question.

Bob

[/ QUOTE ]

In this given situation I would rather have the 98s. Barry said that the raiser and the 3 bettor were pretty solid players if i remember right. Most of the time in a 6 way 3 bet pot I will be the 3 bettor or raiser and I would rather have the KQs.

SB says, my 2 pair NG...weakie gives up and folds saying she had AQ.

[/ QUOTE ]

Did you remember to kick SB in the nuts after you were finished stacking his chips?

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL He was the guy in the other post that folded 2 pair or a set on the turn getting 17:1. He busted out a little while later.

On another note, I did a couple of Poker Stoves on this and KTs has about a 11-12% equity PF vs. 6 other likely hands.

[/ QUOTE ]

I did the following poker stove 7 way hand.

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 15.3680 % 15.29% 00.08% { 4c4d }
Hand 2: 10.1077 % 09.41% 00.70% { AdQs }
Hand 3: 37.3749 % 37.32% 00.06% { KcKh }
Hand 4: 04.7727 % 04.20% 00.57% { QJo }
Hand 5: 04.4119 % 03.72% 00.69% { AJo }
Hand 6: 19.5752 % 19.21% 00.36% { 9s8s }
Hand 7: 08.3896 % 07.86% 00.53% { random }

I applied real hand ranges to everybody. 44 for the weakie limping UTG. AQo for the first Raiser and 2 kings for the 2nd. QJo for guy who loves to see every flop (prolly generous) AJo for calling station, us with the 98s and a random hand in one of the blinds.

As you can see the 89s has a 19% equity in a 7 way pot. Pretty good. I'll do 1 more for the 54s against the same range.

partly b/c limper #1 has 44, and in the 98s example, our two pair/trips cards are still in the deck.

wow.. apparently being a math nit is more important than hand reading and game selection adaptations.

i completely understand the point he is trying to make. that is not the issue.

but i realize the pot is going to be huge and if you do say flop a K, you'll have more than enough odds to call to the river. but what you should concentrate on, and what is a bigger profit potential is by playing and maximizing profits on big draws and monster hands (IE sets etc.).. so i'd even be willing to fold top pair in these type of games if you face multiple bets.. because even if your hand is good, you're still paying too much on a hand with not much showdown strength.

and theres a huge difference between playing K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]10[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], but if we have to discuss this issue, then its time to jump down to SS.

[/ QUOTE ]

The difference being that the 54s is better?

[/ QUOTE ]

I really hope not.

[/ QUOTE ]

You think there's a huge gap between the two here? I think with the 54s we're not going to run into nearly as many post-flop problems lkike having to call multiple bets with bad top pair etc and so on.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think you're right, but only because 54s is a lot less likely to be playable at all after it sees a flop, I wouldn't say that's a good thing.

[ QUOTE ]
In this spot, would you rather have KTs, 98s or 54s?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm folding all 3 if it's 3 bets to me, but if I have to play one it would be close between KTs and 98s.

[/ QUOTE ]

In a 6 way 3 bet pot if you would rather have the k10s over the 98s your out of your mind.

[/ QUOTE ]

98s vs. k10s was not the question.. it was k10s vs. 54s.
