Re: Won a trip to vegas. They say I can\'t go...

Re: If you were in my situation...
This is the general TOC which I haven't seen posted:
here It states: [ QUOTE ] #19 The Fortune Room Online Casino Promotions department will be the sole judge in respect of honoring any promotional offer. Fortune Room Online Casino reserves the right, exercisable in its sole discretion, to discontinue or cancel any promotional offer at any time for any reason whatsoever and without any prior notice. Any person deviating from the promotional rules may be disqualified without notice. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not a lawyer but I think in lawyer speak it means: "And in case we forgot anything let's cover our butts." And from the promotional TOC : [ QUOTE ] The casino credit prizes will be distributed throughout the course of the promotion and the discretion of the Fortune Lounge group. [/ QUOTE ] Again, another "lets cover our butts" It also states: [ QUOTE ] The Fortune Lounge group will reimburse players for the reasonable economy class flights of the player and 1 (one) partner to the final event. This amount will be reimbursed to the player via casino credits at the discretion of the Fortune Lounge group. Should the amount be insufficient, the outstanding fees will be for the players account. Airfares will only be reimbursed to players attending the final event. [/ QUOTE ] Since you won't be "attending" they probably don't owe you anything. I'd take the money which apparently they don't even have to give you. If I'm understanding this correctly they could just give you casino credits. That said, I didn't see anything stating that the prize is non-transferable. Unless you are a highroller I don't think you can win here. They aren't going to want to (nor should they) promote underage gambling in the US given the current political climate. You aren't underage in Canada but you are in the US which is where they'd be sending you. Is it fair? Probably not - but life isn't so get used to it. |

Re: If you were in my situation...
[ QUOTE ]
Figured id throw this out there.. legal gambling age in Canada is 19.. not 18. Therefore you are lucky they arent confiscating your funds for playing underage in the location you are from. [/ QUOTE ] Depends on the province. It's 18 in Quebec (and at least one other province). Edit: Oops, already been answered by other posters. |

Re: Won a trip to vegas. They say I can\'t go...
You've done well to get their offer raised to $1500. You really need to take it and run. They could have offered you nothing (due to you being under-age) and you'd have had no legal recourse. They're doing this out of goodwill and wanting to mend fences. If you get jerky enough with them, they may decide that it's not worth trying to keep you happy anymore.

Hopefully I'll get eventually get to Vegas! Thanks again! [/ QUOTE ] Well done, nicely played. And to those saying the OP was an idiot, I think his behavior was quite reasonable. He was offered an opportunity to play this tournament, and pointed out that as he wasn't 21 he couldn't take full advantage of winning. He was told, That's true, but you're still eligible for a partial prize, that being an ultra-cool trip to Vegas. He decided that was worth his time and participated in the promotion. I have no quibble with anybody deciding jhow, and for what reward, they want to spend their time and effort. At what point, in the process was he an idiot -- when he didn't assume that what he was being told by a site representative about being able to go on the trip was simply false information? |
