some people have speculated that those who play the highest steps levels can get the points really fast.

perhaps 5 or more from this group has already made it also??

[/ QUOTE ]

Nah, not even close, those things almost never run, you get 100 points for playing an SnG with a fee of $60 or higher. So thats 200 points on the gold level.

On the best day there are only 4 or 5 that run, thats the BEST day.

yeah...i've impressed even myself with this one.

Here's my breakdown so far.

Thursday night...stay up all night. Practice 10-tabling on 1/2 just to get some confidence going and then move up to 3/6 a little bit too (all 6-max tables at the time).

Friday - sleep hard from 6a to 4p.
indoor soccer at 6...oh well....gets the blood pumping at least (and we won).

10p - rest a bit and close my eyes (after showering obviously)

10:40p - get all my tables requested and opened. kind of a pain trying to get onto 10 tables and buy-in and all that...best to do it ahead of time.

10:55p - start playing (promo starts at 11p central time)

Play pretty much straight through until 1p or so with just a couple of 5-minute breaks to make food or something.

1p - 10 minute break to close my eyes and regain my vision which is getting blurry.

5p - 1 hour nap. I slept freaking HARD.

6p-midnight - play play play.

original plan was to try to play just until 8p today...but I'm feeling good after recovering from the nap. I've been mostly 10-tabling 5/10 and 10/20 but have been getting clobbered.
very close to giving up just for bankroll considerations.

decide to stick with it at 3/6 BBJ

Sunday - 1a-5a sleep.

5a - wake up on my own and feeling good surprisingly.
deeper sleep from total exhaustion I guess.
I probably played 22 hours out of the first 24.

earned 12.9k points for day 1.

5a - start play again...still messing arounf with occasional 10/20 tables...same guuys have been playing the 10/20 BBJ tables all freaking night long getting points.
take a lot of beats there.

2 or 3 really bad beats in a roll and sent me down to 3/6 permanently.

Anyway - after shower and coffee going I play from 6a-midnight pretty much straight through. I'm exhausted and think I'm getting close...but I miscalculated...and you get points so damn slowly on 10 tab les of 3/6.
Even just 2 or 3 tables of 10/20 along with the 7 tables of 3/6 is WORLDS faster.

1:30 I'm back at it after a shower and making some food and taking a break. I should hopefully have this wrapped up in a couple hours (7am central)

So in summary -

Day 1 - 22 hours of play.
Day 2 - 18 hours straight pretty much from 6a-midnight
Day 3 - 6 hours more to finish it off (1a-7a)

Call me selfish or call me a whiner. But I think I am deserving of that damn cruise!!

fingers crossed that I acutally get it...those gold-memers at 10/20 have a HUGE advantage on me and should already have gotten it by now.

one guy on the 10/20 BBJ said he had been playing for 30 hours straight and was having trouble seeing. Does this all strike anyone else as just a tad unhealthy??

I recall reading a post (about a year ago) in which the guy's goal was to play 2 days straight or something. He was playing 25NL and in the 20th hour or something, while having a stack at/near $300 - he said something along the lines of, "I'm so tired, I feel like I'm playing Omaha. Every hand looks good."

I cannot fathom the mindset needed for a marathon session like this. Especially after the beats and downswing Metetron has taken, I'm shocked he's still sane.

something is going on with p-tracker now and it can't get the HH's due to some error.

did party suddenly change the HH format on the BBJ tables or something??

kind of glad I figured out roughly how many total hands I needed for these last few hours ahead of time....but without being able to confirm exactly I'm going to have to go well above the mark just to be sure..

additionally...people are leaving and it's tough keeping 10 tables going.

i got down to 6 tables just from those that were closing while I wastrying to figure out the problem with p-tracker/party HH's.

You and me both.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm down $2,000 on the challenge and am on a $4,000 downswing if you can't the day before the chalenge when I dropped 100 Big Bets.

Updated numbers to the left. GL Bob!

On the bright side, when this is over - the downswing should be as well! And when you are rested, perhaps you will be able to browse your hands and figure out what went wrong. BTW, is this 10/20 10 or 6 handed?

If you only have 12,800 / 25,000 Points, you're not gonna make it.

Met, I don't like you but I sympathize with your downswing. If I were you, I'd strongly consider getting a trustworthy friend to come over my house and play for me while I sleep. It's not honest, but with these types of promotions and a $12K seat on the line, there's always moral hazard involved. Not only that, playing in the condition you're in now is -EV and just unhealthy.. might as well get some rest and give yourself a chance to rally.

It's a long shot but we'll see. About 13,700 now.
