Re: ***Official Pac-10 Basketball Thread***
[ QUOTE ]
Last night was a different story. Much better, even if his production was down. -McGee [/ QUOTE ] He might be one of those guys who's only going to bring it in high profile games, but does it really reflect badly on him that in other games he sleepwalks through but still puts up 20-30/5-10/5-10? USC has Kansas at Galen on Sunday then flies to Memphis the next Tuesday. Brutal couple of games. If USC can play both teams close and win one of them I think they should be considered a top ten team. |

[/ QUOTE ] Of course it does. Guys who turn their effort on and off like that are more likely than most to not get going when they need to. It also can be harmful to a team's chemistry. I wasn't criticizing his talent. -McGee |

2 loss teams that include a loss to Mercer should not be considered top ten teams.

Having just re-read this thread, I am offering to fight CSC in the gravel pit at 3:00 after school to defend the honor of John Brockman, who rules enough that he's made this WSU fan watch the Huskies. Dentmon is a [censored] idiot who hurts his team and Applebye is a useless chucker, but Brockman is a beast. He's just got all the wrong players around him. [/ QUOTE ] Careful, you keep losing weight I'll have you outpounded. Combined with my catlike quickness, you don't stand a chance. |

Re: ***Official Pac-10 Basketball Thread***

My problem with Mayo was his lack of intensity. Yeah, so a guy with his talent can put up 20 against San Diego and Miami (OH) in his sleep; that doesn't mean he should actually sleepwalk through the game. Last night was a different story. Much better, even if his production was down. -McGee [/ QUOTE ] I had this same impression of Kevin Durant when I saw him in the NCAA tourney last year in Spokane. Really lethargic without the ball, uninspired on defense, etc... somehow he managed to still put up 25+ pts in both games... Basically I think people set their expectations of the super-hyped athletes too high. I know I did... I was unimpressed with Durant, and he's clearly an elite talent. |

Re: ***Official Pac-10 Basketball Thread***
In other news, WSU up to #6 in both polls, the highest ranking in school history! Previous best was 9th...
I'd like to open discussion on the Pac-10/Big-12 Challenge... there are some very interesting games this week: Thurs., Nov. 29, 2007 Oregon at Kansas State Oklahoma at USC Fri., Nov. 30, 2007 Washington State at Baylor Iowa State at Oregon State Sat., Dec. 1, 2007 Washington at Oklahoma State Missouri at California Sun., Dec. 2, 2007 Arizona State at Nebraska Stanford at Colorado Texas at UCLA Texas A&M at Arizona Outside the 10-game series window: Arizona at Kansas (Sun., Nov. 25) Stanford vs. Texas Tech (Sat., Dec. 22) The one I'm most interested in is the WSU-Baylor game. Baylor is a surprising 5-0 and will be the first real test for the cougs... |

Re: ***Official Pac-10 Basketball Thread***
Will Collison be back in time for the Texas game? Collison-Augustin is an awesome PG matchup.
Some real good games in this Big 12/Pac 10 Hardwood Series (great name). Texas-UCLA is the highlight, but there will be a ton of talent on the floor for Oregon-K State, Oklahoma-USC, and A&M-Arizona, and Mizzou-Cal and Washington St.-Baylor are interesting matchups. Is there a TV schedule anywhere for these? -McGee |
