Hills + Pudge = Triple = spinning more = more cardio + longer knee life

pain free > being made fun of

i did 42 miles today over some brutal valley hills. 400ft elevation change in less than a mile is steep. no walking. no knee pain. even crushed some skinny roadie (compared to me but he was young at least) up the last hill.

if i can do these hills on the 6speed im sure if i get a 9 or 10 ill be fine for anything.

also, i highly doubt i will be pudgy forever, ya know, since i ride a lot.

It's been a while since I paid attention to equipment enough to make any suggestions other than the standard stuff; make sure it fits, spend the extra 50 to 100 bucks to have someone fit you that knows what they are doing.

I don't know if you want to get a super light wheel set, I don't know what the weight limitations are on some of the fancy ones. I put gator skins on them and thorn resistant tubes anyway so it doesn't really matter.

With the tour going on I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find deals on Treks, they used to always have sales on while it was going.

so i got an 06 trek madone sl 5.2 today. ultegra components.

paid 2k which was more than i had intended but it seemed like too good a deal to pass up and it feels far better to spend money than what i usually do with it.

went like 52 today and it felt like cheating.
