Re: Songs about the herb
This is driving me nuts. There's a Phish song about being caught with herb. The chorus goes something like "Ain't no time to stash the gumbo... I rattle around in a cage..... and spittle is everywhere in range." What's the name of this song?

There's a live version with the Giant Country Horns (I think it's from 93) that is incredible. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Rainy Day Woman is not about drugs. [/ QUOTE ] YES, it is! "everybody must get stoned..." My pick: Sizzla~Marijuana [/ QUOTE ] It really isn't. It's about not living up to social conventions and being an outsider. "Stoned" is used in the biblical sense. The point of the song is that everything will get you 'stoned'. If you'll notice - the lyrics of the song state that they'll stone you for doing just about everything. If you think about it - Dylan's foresight into the era of Political Correctness is pretty damn impressive. His genius is such that he was able to make everyone think it was a song about getting high. [/ QUOTE ] I watched a documentary that talked about this song and though maybe you were right that the song is metaphorically speaking about getting "stoned" they explained there was a general feeling of everybody being stoned in the making of the song, including Dylan, and in a video they made for it, so i guess you can draw your own conclusions from that abou the song. |

[/ QUOTE ] Cool. Was Dylan himself interviewed? Because he's notorious for [censored] with interviewers. I remember reading an interview with him (paraphrasing): Interviewer: Can you give me a quote Bob? Dylan (without missing a beat): Why? Are you cold? |
