Clark,

I guess he's assuming they can clear $2000/shift two days a week and then clear about $800/shift the other three to get to the ~$6250 per 5-day work week they'd need to hit to get to $300k/yr pretax.

I have no idea how feasible that is.

[/ QUOTE ]

When i said 300k i put a ? mark at the end of the sentance. I didnt know how much they could make. I do think they can make 1000 a shift on weekends and prolly 800 a shift the rest of the week.

The 500 was for a shift in Bumfuck, Indiana where ppl are not there to drink and spend money. In vegas ppl are there to drink and spend money.

200k then i dont know. I would think they can make twice as much as they make in Indiana.

[/ QUOTE ]

How much do you think dayshift working the slot section makes? How long do you think it takes to get enough seniority to get to swing shift in the table games section? How long do you think it takes to get into a high-end casino like Bellagio?

Optimal realistically achievable scenario in Vegas is about $90k, fwiw.

[/ QUOTE ]

Day shift slots make more than you would think. I talked to a girl that just started, she was in my orientation class and she made 200 during the day. I couldnt believe that. I thought there was no way she could make more than 100.

I know you have to have seniority and prolly grease some palms. But that was the whole point of my thread. I just knew how much the girls in Indiana made. I had no clue about vegas that's why I was asking.

It's def more than 90k. They can make that here.

FWIW, the waitresses at Bay 101 are probably the highest-paid servers anywhere (this may include all but the most senior waitstaff at the world's best restaurants). They don't get harassed that much either. That said, I'm sure you have to be pretty juiced-in to get the job, but most of them stay for a long time and they make serious bread.

Clark,

"Optimal realistically achievable scenario in Vegas is about $90k, fwiw."

If she's hot and street smart, she can get a cocktailing job making more than that in Vegas.

[/ QUOTE ]

Chicks that hot aren't working the fry bin, which is what OP was talking about.

Girls working at Tao, etc also aren't part of the discussion.

And "can" never equals "realistically will". Strippers in Vegas "can" make 6 figures a year super easily. Very few do.

95% of typical cute chicks who want to cocktail on the casino floor in Vegas will never make more than $90k in tips per year.

You don't want to know. And since I suspect that you're not a hot Vietnamese or Chinese woman, it won't matter anyway.

This is in nowhere, indiana. I dont even want to think about how much someone in vegas could make where drinks are free. What is a ballpark figure? 300k?

[/ QUOTE ]

you seriously think a waitress in LV pulls 300k?

[/ QUOTE ]

I would think 100K easy, wouldn't you. Especially the ones that work at good spots, say the big poker rooms, the sports book at the Mirage, etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

Poker players can be terrible tippers. They feel the rake or hourly seat charge too much, and most want to stay sober, anyway. At blackjack tables, craps, etc., it would probably be much better.

[/ QUOTE ]

My understanding is the poker room is often the best place to cocktail in the casino because many of the players are regulars.

[/ QUOTE ]

Being regularly not tipped still doesn't come out to much money though.

I think people just tip more when they're not feeling pinched by the drop so much. You don't really feel that in games like craps or blackjack like you do at poker. Plus, poker has more of a sober vibe around it in general. A lot of people play it as if it were a serious game, even if they don't play with any real thought.

Anyway, I hear tons of people saying they won't tip dealers at poker tables, because of the drop/seat rental. I don't think poker puts people in that much of a tipping mood, and especially for the regulars. I could be wrong, though. Just remarking on what I've seen at the Los Angeles area cardrooms like the Commerce, Bike, etc.

I agree with Clarky 100% about his 95%.

Let the record show that Clarky sure knows his strippers and scantily-clad waitresses.

I'd put the over/under on number of waitresses that made more than 90k in tips on the Caesars Indiana riverboat in 2006 at about 2.
