Default Re: CUBS: sign Derosa and Blanco

[ QUOTE ]
I still expect the Cubs to sign Cliff Floyd and at least one starter soon. That's probably about it for the binge.

[/ QUOTE ]
if they sign Floyd it better be a 1 year deal as a 4th OF.
i really would like for them to sign 2 of Lilly/Meche/Schmidt/Bautista

I'm starting to think Hendry may be the worst GM in baseball. Seems like he just buys players, not parts of a whole,

I don't know what you mean by this. For the most part, baseball players play independently of each other (i.e. first guy goes up, then the next guy, then the next guy, etc., and there PAs don't really depend that heavily on the guys around them). I guess there's "protection", but I've never seen a definitive study that shows that it makes that much difference.

Anyway, the point being that you don't need to build the team as "components". I guess if he signed 4 shortstops then I might agree with you. But I don't agree if what you are saying is that he should take into consideration the attributes of his, say, 3B and LF before signing the best CF he can get.
