Acid on the other hand is viewed by society as a very hard drug. I ask myself all the time why this is. How many deaths occur because of acid in a year? Compare that to the number of deaths caused when alcohol was involved?

[/ QUOTE ]

The potency of acid was far, far higher in the Owsley-60's heyday than it is now. While I don't see it ever touching the number of alcohol related deaths, there was a real alarm at the number of people committing suicide and having psychotic episodes as a result of acid. The government cracked down and Owsley decided cooking wasn't worth the risk any more. Acid hasn't been the same since. At least, you don't see the large quantities of pure liquid acid.

Cocaine, heroine, and nicotine are all addictive. The difference is that you cannot physically stop doing any of these drugs without some sort of harm to your body. I know that quitting cigarettes was very painful. These drugs change the DNA and general chemistry of your body, which is why they have a physical addiction.

[/ QUOTE ]

But cigarettes are still legal. I'm certainly not talking about giving drugs to small children, I'm talking about allowing adults to make their own decisions, even if they are stupid.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree, and I already stated that I am 100% anti-prohibition. I feel that keeping the problems under the rug is only making it worse. The only way to make "stupid" people stop doing drugs is to "unstupify" them, thus they will be edumacated better about their decisions.
