Re: Bling survey for engaged/married OOTers
I think my ring cost $47. They really effed my wife with the cost of engraving.

Now I'm curious too, I'll look for the cert when I get home. I'm not really far off, though, of that I'm sure. I'll post when I find it. [/ QUOTE ] OK, I was slightly off. 1.71 carats, E, VS2. |

Re: Bling survey for engaged/married OOTers
We got married the summer before my wife began law school. A ring seemed like a foolish expenditure when could surviving on ramen noodles and macaroni and cheese. 20 years later, she still has no ring.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] $13,000 + $3500 / $700 = 23.5 [/ QUOTE ] Big rock or super-high quality? [/ QUOTE ] I guess it depends on your definition of each. It's like 1.7 carats, colorless (D or E), VVS1. You can really tell the difference if you put it next to a more included or less colorless diamond. It catches the light like you wouldn't believe. [/ QUOTE ] um, where do you get a 1.7carat D/E VVS1 for 13000? That sounds outlandish [/ QUOTE ] Not if you realize the cut is subpar (or the papers are faked). From the quoted light catching comment, it is clear that the poster does not understand what he is talking about. Cut is what matters for that effect, inclusions mean dick there. [ QUOTE ] OK, I was slightly off. 1.71 carats, E, VS2. [/ QUOTE ] Fake papers and [censored] cut FTW and me for the poor reading comprehension. J |

Re: Bling survey for engaged/married OOTers
Since you seem to be implying that the stats I quoted are impossible or the diamond's papers are faked, I took a look on Blue Nile and found this nearly identical diamond for a nearly identical price. Many others in the same ballpark in terms of the 4 c's and price. I think you probably do get more for your money from the princess cut because it's less complicated, etc. Also, I never claimed to be a diamond expert like you.

[/ QUOTE ] Owl, I was replying to your first post, hence the edit and the mocking of my own reading comprehension. Plug the clarity of VVS1 and color of D/E into their search and see what you get. I'm no diamond expert... Glad you and your wife enjoy the ring. J |

Re: Bling survey for engaged/married OOTers
[ QUOTE ]
I cannot understand why people spend so much on rings. Totally stupid and counterproductive for two reasons: 1. You spend a lot of money on something almost completely useless. 2. By doing so, you increase the chances that you will marry a greedy money-hungry bitch. My rule was: $300 max for her ring. No interest in marrying anyone for whom this was a problem. In the end I married a fantastic woman who thought $300 was absurdly extravagant. [/ QUOTE ] I totally agree with you and so does my wife. |
