i dont know this guys history but its very irresponsible to go out there without some basic supplies and survival skills. like bring a gallon of water if youre gonna go offroading 80m from civilization. i wouldnt rule out foul play actually now that i think about that.

regardless, very sad.

Very sad. I followed the Corvette forum and I feel for them all and any here that knew him personally.

I live very close to where he was found and know the sheriff personally. The Arizona heat/sun is no joke and one should never, ever go out exploring or 4 wheeling without leaving detailed info on where you're going, IF you choose to go alone.

My condolences to his family and loved ones.

I was hoping he was on a bender partying and stuff but it didn't sound good from the start. Was he a regular off roader? It seems insane to go out in that desert by yourself

Apparently Mike was very fond of off-roading. The cell phone is really incidentaly, as it would not have worked in that area. His car broke down very far from a main road or any residence or business. He made the decision to leave the car and try to hike out, and died of exposure trying to walk out.

I agree that it is always wise when going somewhere like this to tell someone where you are going, and if you bring a phone they will be more able to locate you. Sadly, Mike did not think of this as anything more than a drive. He had driven in this desert area alot, but clearly did not take as much safety precautions as one might hope.

The corvette board is doing a memorial for him, if anyone is interested,
