Re: College Football Schedules 2008
[ QUOTE ]
Who can tell what team will be good or bad within several years? OOC schedules are typically written and contracted several years beforehand. [/ QUOTE ] One thing that doesn't change from years in advance is location. If you don't schedule games in any time zone but Eastern then no matter what you aren't traveling west. |

Re: College Football Schedules 2008
Dude, LSU's schedule is a normal SEC schedule(with the added bonus that they don't have to play themselves). I'm not sure what third team you think makes the top 10, but either way, that's got to be one of the easiest schedules in the SEC because those are some seriously soft cupcakes. UGA has @ASU, Arkansas has @Texas, I think Auburn plays somebody good OOC, etc.

Re: College Football Schedules 2008
Oregon's OOC starts with Boise State at home (will be on the blue turf in 2009), Utah State at home, and at Purdue.

I'm pretty sure UCLA is going to play Tennessee and and Cal is going to play Michigan St these are two Pac 10 games off the top of my head [/ QUOTE ] Yes, Cal's non-con schedule is, IIRC, vs. Michigan St, vs. Colorado St., at Maryland. I'm curious to see what the QB situation is going to look like next year (and the WRs, depending on how much Jackson's stock has been affected this year). |

Re: College Football Schedules 2008
On the topic of schedule strength, I agree with those who are saying you have to recognize how quickly things can change.
Kansas wasn't playing a tough schedule this year no matter what, but CMU and Toledo have both had very successful seasons within the last couple of years. Also btw, that KU-USF game next year may get moved to Friday, August 29th. Obviously that would involve moving the game on 8/30. Though part of me wonders if it's possible/legal to go ahead and play back-to-back days. Obviously it would never happen in a million years. |

You don't have a clue what it's like to play in a real conference, with real competition. I don't blame you now. |

I tend to go for subtle hints. I realize every halfwit south of the Mason-Dixon line thinks the SEC is somewhere around the NFC West in quality of play, but you posted one of the easiest schedules in that conference like it was noteworthy. P.S. I was alive in 2005 when the Big Ten was not only harder than the SEC it was actually the hardest conference in all the land. I vaguely remember that year, too. P.P.S. @ USC, week 2, 2008. That would be just about the hardest OOC game possible. |
