Re: So, is the end really in 2012?
[ QUOTE ]
Nostradamus predicted this thread. You're all playing into his master plan. [/ QUOTE ] I think 12 monkeys play into it somehow as well. |

Re: So, is the end really in 2012?
[ QUOTE ]
I thought Nostradomus predicted the end of the world on September 23rd, ?2000. [/ QUOTE ] No, Nostradamus's writing is obscure to the point of being unreadable. People make up crap about what he meant, but they really have no idea because it's so obscure. The only time he's given a pretty clear date and prediction was something that actually did come true, the Great Fire of London. |

Key to being famous:
right down a bunch of sayings that are so vague they can be applied very easily to the end of the world but at the same time can be applied to your cereal box |

I'll bet it doesn't end. If you want the other side, let me know how much you want. We'll settle up on 1/1/13.

Re: So, is the end really in 2012?
I had an idea to start selling end of the world countdown clocks and party items in 2011 and make some serious bucks. Then I realized I wouldn't get to spend any of the money I made because the world would end.

Re: So, is the end really in 2012?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] iirc, December 21st 2012 is the end of a cycle in the long count Mayan calendar which doesn't directly translate into an apocalypse but more of a transition or major change in the world. The Mayans were amazing at predicting celestial events centuries or millenia in advance but is still not something to get worked up about. [/ QUOTE ] yeah it's about a 4 century cycle. so assuming the world didn't end in 1604 or whenever the last one was, i think we are relatively ok [/ QUOTE ] The cycle is 14x20x20x18x20 = 2016000 days ~ 5520 years, so the calander goes back to (almost?) prehistoric times. |
