Beeing a grown-up man with a family and without baller's addiction, Oklahoma is fine place to live(like Edmond). And it's same travel to California, Florida...how about Mexico or Boston, hehe. Cmon. I'd prefer Oregon...hehe
But Europe( province in France or Italy) is way better IMHO. |

Re: Short Poker Essay: How to get broke, how to get rich
[ QUOTE ]
Snorer makes a good point. I hope that Tnixon rings in on how he can stay focused on three tables 10 hours a day. [/ QUOTE ] I have every intention of following snorer's advice once I get high enough. There's no question that there's a point where the opponents get tough enough, and infrequent enough, that it's just worlds better to play cash. There's a very good chance I will never advance past playing $100s regularly, especially since I don't really want to switch to turbos. I also drop a table when I'm playing $100s, but I've had very consistent results 3-tabling $50s. (10 hours isn't exactly the norm though) [ QUOTE ] I thought Tnixon was the one that went busto like 4 times. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. [/ QUOTE ] Depending on your definition of "busto", it's been 3 times I think. I have had to rebuild on HUSNGs that many times, but I've never lost my bankroll purely playing HUSNGs. If I had never played anything else, even with what I've cashed out, I would be sitting on about 6k (or potentially a lot more, since that figure comes from my current sharkscope profit, which includes multiple runs back through the $5-$20 range), instead of the 2k I'm at right now. Pretty sick to think about, actually. So I try not to. |

Nixon, if you stick with regular speeds I'm sure you can get past 100s. Might take a bit of work, but it's definitely achievable.

I'm just not ready to shoot into $200s yet with the 10 buyin rule I've so aggressively defended in the past. And after showing so many times just how much potential value can be lost by waiting too long to move up, I even feel like a little bit of a donk sticking with a mix of $50s and $100s, with 30-40 buyins for $50s. But I'm at a point where psychology definitely outweighs math, so I'll continue to somewhat sheepishly play $50s for a while yet, while trying to mix in a few more cash sessions, since I really do agree with snorer that cash is the way to go long-term. (i always had a feeling that this was true...but couldn't really explain it to myself) |

Re: Short Poker Essay: How to get broke, how to get rich
Because there's a bigger population at higher levels. Bigger population means you can find weaker players.
Highest husngs go are 5500s and you'd have a hard time finding enough action to play 20-30 of those a day, even if you only play good players. Otherwise you could easily surpass 25k a month and it might be wiser for some people to play husng when they reach a certain level and want to continue to increase profit. |

Re: Short Poker Essay: How to get broke, how to get rich
At the same buy-in, cash games are *less* profitable than sngs, but, in theory, lower variance. (lack of hard data requires me to add "in theory", because the math seems to indicate that cash should be lower variance, but practically everybody thinks swings are way bigger at cash)
The problem is that once you get past a certain point, it becomes very difficult to find HUSNGs of an appropriate level, and the opponents are tougher in general. For example, right now on full tilt, there are 3 unique players waiting at NL 25/50 HU tables ($5k buyin), and 6-7 different people sitting and playing at 10/20 ($2k buyin). And that's just NLHE tables. There are currently ZERO games running or people sitting at any level higher than $550 HUSNGS, there are only 2 $550s going (with 4 unique players), and only 2 $220s going, with one person sitting at a $200. That includes *ALL* the gametypes. The $550s and $220s are all NLHE, but the $200 is a stud hi HUSNG. (god I bet that guy waits for AGES for his games to fill) Comparable buyin levels for cash would be 3/6, 2/4 or 1/2. There are probably somewhere around 20-25 players sitting at 1/2 ($200 buyin), around 10 at 2/4 ($400 buyin), and 7 unique players at 3/6 ($600 buyin). Of course, not every player at every table buys for max, so the buyin sizes aren't direct correlations, but you get the idea. So while husngs are more profitable for equivalent buyins, the difference is that you just can't play HUSNGs in the mid-to-high stake range as often as you can cash. |

[ QUOTE ] you realize how little it takes to ball out in Alabama? very very little. [/ QUOTE ] All I buy is Krystals and porn. [/ QUOTE ] Yah I could ball out in Alabama, but then I'd have to eat Crackel Barrell every day Today I went to Osha Thai in the Marina and enjoy some Wasabi beef rolls. Then I went to China Town to buy some high grade rice wine and Japanese Plum Wine with the fruit in the bottom. Oh ya, and I went to work out at club Equinox today and worked on the sled machine while staring at an awesome filipina girl's ass in front of me. You cannot compare anywhere else to the San Fran Bay area....it costs a lot, but you live SUPER good. ANd I do love Vegas, but its hot and ghetto. Plus, Nevada is a shithole outside of the Vegas Strip. Hell, they film Cops in Vegas just about full time now. The only crime where I live is tax evasion Indy |
