Re: Rank these running backs
[ QUOTE ]
(On a related note: are there any Giants fans who think that Westbrook was better? Any Eagles fans who think that Barber was better?) [/ QUOTE ] If I had to pick for one game, I would take Westbrook. More dangerous. If I had to pick for one season, I would take Barber. More durable. |

Re: Rank these running backs
I think it would have been interesting to include Curtis Martin in this poll.

Re: Rank these running backs
I think Martin wins it imo. As long as you got some guy to take some guy to change it up, you know he'll last forever and give you over 4 ypc.

Re: Rank these running backs
1. Westbrook, TD
3. PH, CP, EJ, TB 7. SA Really hard to rate them 1-7 cause so much of the running game comes from the o-line and the teams ability to throw. |

Re: Rank these running backs
I think Edge would be regarded as the best in pass protection here, but I still picked TD because I think he was most dominant based on the eyeball test, and because of the difference in team results with and without him. I consider TD's line about = to Edge's
Priest is hard to rank because his line was so dominant. Tiki might be the best long term player but I am trying to build a fan base and win now, and young Tiki won't win games for you like some of these other guys will. Westbrook I don't trust to be healthy enough. Alexander, I just don't have that much respect for, he has the numbers but when I've seen him play he never seems to have any qualities that would make me want him on my team. Portis is solid but I think I would rather have Edge |

Re: Rank these running backs
Hard to say where Curtis Martin would rank. First on durability and solid production. But not too many times did one think wow this Curtis Martin is the best runner in the NFL (I could be wrong pre-2000 stuff). I'm guessing he wasn't at that time either though.. Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders amirite?

Re: Rank these running backs
Concerning fumbling, I just threw this together.
Touches/fumble Brian Westbrook - 149.125 Priest Holmes - 131.188 Clinton Portis - 91.947 Terrell Davis - 91.2 Edgerrin James - 77.775 Shaun Alexander - 77.667 Tiki Barber - 52.887 |

Re: Rank these running backs
Considering how few fumbles there are and how a few "fluke" fumbles or a few bad refs calls on the fumbles(either incorrectly ruling it a fumble or incorrectly ruling a player down)can really alter that statistic, how much variance and random luck do you think there is in that statistics?
For example, if we were to go back in time and re-do everything, how big of a favorite would you make BW over TB in terms of winning this stat? 99,525 and counting |

BW is probably very good at not fumbling, and Tiki very good at fumbling. in the middle, there is probably a lot of variance/luck |
