clemens will not be enough to fix the yankees, esp with all the offense problems

if like, guerrero or manny ramirez etc. (some all star outfielder) gets traded to the yankees they'll make the playoffs. otherwise they're pretty much screwed because the AL Central is winning the wild card this year

[/ QUOTE ]
Yankees have played like they should be a few games over .500 with their run differential (widely used in baseball statistical circles as a reliable indicator of the true strength of a team).

Considering they've started like 11 different pitchers, 7 of which have been rookies, and it's not even June yet, I think that's pretty nice.

Eventually the rotation will settle into a groove if the injury bug goes away (crosses fingers), and the Yankees can end up with 90+ wins easily with the offense as it is--5th best in the majors.

[/ QUOTE ]
some of the rookies are better than the vets you think are going to save the yankees when they "settle into a groove", so that excuse doesnt work.
the only thing the yankees can hope for is the offense gets better. them being 5th is a joke.

[/ QUOTE ]
5th best offense is more than enough to get to the playoffs if pitchers stop getting injured.

What rookie cracks the top four of Clemens, Pettitte, Wang, Mussina? The 5th starter can be Hughes when he comes back from the DL and whatever rookie flavor of the week in the meantime (Clippard right now).
