yay for the game we picked up today, but can we please end the koyie hill experiment?

geovany soto's line from iowa this year: .341/.410/.577

i guess i should be glad we're winning now, but hill's playing time coinciding with our pitching staff performing better is going to make cubs management stick with below replacement level catchers until the end of time.

oh well, 4.5 BACK!

According to Bruce Miles, Hendry has said that he is not handcuffed, and that the Cubs will be buyers this month. With what is available, I think the best option is just going with Soto and Cedeno and dumping Jones and Izturis. Let Fontenot get the majority of the starts at 2nd and DeRo can play RF against LH and spot start elsewhere.

Soriano
Fontenot
Lee
Ramirez
Floyd/DeRosa
Cedeno
Soto
Pie

I wouldn't mind if we acquired a true #2 starter, though. Erik Bedard or James Shields would probably be available.

Who's leaving the rotation if you get another starter?

I agree with most of this. There aren't many holes that can't be filled from Iowa. Soto and Cedeno are mashing right now, and Murton fits in perfectly given our outfield needs, if we send Pie down again to keep working on discipline, and hopefully to see some at bats vs. lefties. The main issues should be getting rid of Izturis and Jones to free up roster slots and a minor amount of payroll, and whatever we get, whether it's prospects or pitching help, is gravy.

It would've been sweet if Angel Pagan would've swiped 3rd instead of getting caught to end the inning.

Oh wait, no it wouldn't.

I hate my life.

Maybe you didn't hear. The cubs can offer Jacque Jones AND Ceasar Izturis.
