It's because of the wording of the german language. Their ordering is different.

Where we would say "I need to go to the store."
A German would say "I need to the store go."

So yeah, the online translators would do weird things with it. I should practice my German skills over in the German forum. Though they'd probably laugh at me and call me names and otherwise make me feel unintelligent, so I think maybe I'll practice my German elsewhere.
