How do you guys feel about Kyle Davies for Dotel? Davies is having a bad year, or at least the numbers look that way.

I know I don't want to see Dotel enter the East at this point though.

Davies should have proven something by now. If that's all it takes to get Dotel, I'm ok with it. But I'm thinking it will be more than that sadly.

Looks like Brandon Jones or Scott Thorman. Don't know enough about the Braves farm system to comment on them.

I'll die if it's Jones. I really like him. He and Tommy Hanson are my two favorites out of the Braves farm system. Jones should be the LF at some point next year. He's got a sweet stroke from what I've seen.

I loathe Thor, but him and Davies for Dotel? That still seems steep. Also, there's rumors of them getting LaRue for the backup catcher position.

I think Davies for Dotel straight up is quite awful by itself.

Dotel has pitched 40 innings in the past 3 years of average relief.

And you want to give up a 23 year old with sick minor league numbers like Davies for it?

lol

Shrug. He hasn't located a pitch in 2 years. He just doesn't look mentally capable of being a major league pitcher. He loses his mechanics very easily, and the ball just sails up on him. Then again, he's 23.

If they are going for broke, I'd do it. Beats trusting Tyler Yates.

Latest rumor is that the Braves are talking to the Reds about Arroyo.

There aren't going to be any prospects left after this is all over with.

It's pretty clear to me that this is a trade that Schuerholz and Cox decided to make for this year and next.

They are both getting near retirement and world championships have been the only thing that have alluded them in their careers.

This, coupled with the advanced age of Chipper, Smoltz, and the one remaining year on Andruw's contract, seems to suggest that Schuerholz cares very little about the extended future.

Besides, why would Cox and Schuerholz care if they left a team with no long-term plan for success? It will just make their careers look that much more impressive.

Davies also has one of the straightest fastballs in the biz, good riddance.

I have mixed feelings about this, but the fact is that I have watched every single Braves' game this year, and Davies fastball really sucks. It is about as straight as a fastball can be. It's pretty hard to succeed with a fastball like that. But maybe something will change. 23 year olds with great minor league numbers are hard to come by, and he is a hometown product, which counts for something.
