Don't forget he also killed the Russian guy, and then beat the living sh*t out of the russian guy too in a later episode. Given that Locke says to Jack "You weren't supposed to do that" I think he has some Desmond like ability to see the future and he knows just how bad Naomi/Russian guy really are.

Can someone clarify the 'jamming' thing for me?

The others had previously said they lost contact with the outside world 'on the day the sky went purple' (the hatch explosion). Now, we find out that Ben has been jamming the signals.

Mikhail didn't know this was going on. Did Ben use the explosion as an excuse? If so, what have the two women been doing in the looking glass until now?

I'm sure I'm missing something here. Can anyone enlighten me?

it may be that the magnetic anamoly that Desmond caused/Poruguese guys found was enough for Penny to find the frequency that the underwater lesbians were jamming.

Ben needed to maintain control of communications on the island. I don't think it has to be any more complicated than that. (Although it probably is.)

A) the website is just a joke "extra" thing

B) the flash foward with jack flying all over the place takes place before the present, but after the island

Right. But I'm suggesting that the explosion had no impact on communications at all. Ben ordered the jamming, and blamed the lost communications on the explosion???
