Tony Allen imo does not really have great basketball skills. By this I mean he is not a great shooter or dribbler or passer.

But he had (pre injury) great athletic skills, great speed and quickness and jumping ability which as we saw right before he got hurt, allowed him to contribute significantly in that he could defend like hell, drive the basket and rebound well for his position. He was kind of like the anti Bird where Bird had all these wonderful basketball skills but wasn't really athletic.

So unless that knee comes back to near 100% I don't see him making much of a contribution.

Cliff notes: I agree with you.

A healthy Tony Allen >>> Delonte West IMO

His injury may be a blessing in disguise if he can recover, because otherwise we would have had to trade him to Seattle or Minne.

He's not going to be healthy and his game has missed out on a year's worth of full strength development. Right now I'd much rather have Delonte West than Tony Allen.

Guess we are signing Posey? Meh, was never a huge fan of him, but he's a good defender with 3 point range.

If you get the first year in Memphis Posey he'd be an awesome steal for that price. If you get the second year in Memphis Posey you did ok.

yeah, it seems like this is a niche skill set that more players would try to fit into. the best example has gotta be bowen, but how many others are there that do these two things well?

I think Posey talks are a bit premature for the Cs right now. They're definitely interested, but I haven't seen any indication he wants to come here or that we'll be able to afford him.

I do like his skill set, though.
