sethypooh, Oh. Well then allow me to explain why that was a bad example. That was a bad example because when Paxson took that shot DANNY AINGE WAS INEXPLICABLY DOUBLING DOWN ON HORACE GRANT UNDERNEATH THE BASKET. THE SAME HORACE GRANT WHO HADN'T MADE A SINGLE SHOT IN TWO GAMES, LEAVING PAXSON WIDE OPEN FOR THE SERIES-WINNING THREE POINTER. Thus he was not in position to release and get downcourt ahead of everyone else. [/ QUOTE ] I wasn't endorsing the runout theory for just this reason...I mean, I endorse the runout theory in general, mainly because it allows[ed] me to get many layups, but obviously it's tough to run out from under your own hoop. |

Re: Official NBA Season Thread
tuq- You at times need to turn off your SunsSunsSUNSUNS filter and look at the general point. In last night's game had a Cavalier just stayed at the Utah end of the court during Williams' drive would've been able to tie the game. He's right.

Suns are awful in rebounding so far. Before last night they were -10.75 and vs the Hawks they were 40-56 so ouch... Only the Warriors are worse. Not too surprising with their lack of bigs but maybe they will get in shape when Stoudemire is back. I really don't see them do as well as the last few years though, the Suns bench is awful and I am not big on Hill. Than again I was getting down on the Mavs last year after their 0-4 start so ehm... let's give it ~20 games. I've finally been watching some Rocket games and T-mac has been amaziiiing so far. Yao not so much (in fact I think he's been playing pretty awful). Gonna try to watch a Knicks game this weekend as I am quite interested in watching their frontcourt in action. Sucks to be an Euro when trying to keep up with the NBA [/ QUOTE ] Suns could lose to anyone at the moment, impossible to judge them for at least 10 games. |

Fly,
WTF are you talking about. I couldn't figure out what he meant and when it was explained I realized it was a poor example. That has nothing to do with homerism. Here, this is grainy but it is a pic of that ill-fated moment to illustrate my point: |

Re: Official NBA Season Thread
not sure what's up with Al's avatar, but it's hilarious. And he's right, obv.
tuq, Way to be a nit. I'm right, btw. If you watch the whole play, while Paxson is shooting Ainge drifts back towards him. I'm saying he should've just bolted. Maybe I'm wrong and leaving Paxson unguarded in case of a miss is bad. In general, though, cherry picking can be a sweet late game move. Kinda like Fly pointed out. The only thing about it is if you do it enough times, teams will eventually defend it. |
