jason_t once wrote about a certain type of wasp that was so stupid you could make it walk in and out of it's nest forever.

i don't remember the name, and i can't find the post, but it was the most interesting thing i've ever read.

A Theory of Justice by John Rawls (political philsophy/social contract theory). And I still think this after reading most of his later/lesser works.
