If you want to know why we feel paranoid and uncomfortable about smoking, there's some pretty good examples why in this very thread.

[/ QUOTE ]

wine,

im a liberal in flaming austin. i dont mind pot. i say smoke up. have fun. do whatever you want.

when pot or alcohol is a daily or near daily habit it's time to evaluate yourself.

time to get that chip off your shoulder.

If he had legalized drinking as a criteria for his place of retirement would it be crazy or pathetic?

You just blew my mind.

[/ QUOTE ]

Really? Isn't that the nature of this whole argument? What makes one man happy may not please another. So long as you aren't affected by the other persons behaviour, let them be.

What happens if he had legalized gum chewing as a criteria? (see singapore)
What happens if he had legalized freedom of religion (or lack thereof) as a criteria? (see any mid east theocracy)

Any activity that a person engages in on a daily basis, which does not harm other people, is a legitimate reason for selecting the place you would retire/live in. As otehr posters have said before, living in fear of being arrested for something you do every day is nerve racking and stressful - even if the chances of getting cought are slim.

Jack,

using such things as "logic" and "coherent thought" in arguments is very quaint.

I recommend you stop immediately.

You couldn't be more wrong.

What if you substituted pot/alcohol with jerking off? I bet there are a bunch of people that will tell you that it would be a great time to re-evaluate that behaviour as well.

it says the OP may have a substance abuse issue.

this isnt a casual thing he enjoys doing every so often. he does it every day as you mentioned and now in his mind, he's planning his retirement around it.

b) you'll probably grow out of weed. most people do.

If you remove the words "out of" from this sentence, you get a much more viable retirement plan for whiskeytown.
