Would vote against Lucky Jim as a mod. Think adding more mods is bad idea, let's use the existing resources we have and know to be non-idiots. Mods don't need to know the subject of their forum nearly as much as they need to use good judgement

In terms of the magazine tie-in for the "News" forum.

I'm talking something as simple as putting it in the sidebar under the magazine I think that kinda co-signs it as real important news and not just NVG part 2. If you take away NVG and replace it in the same spot with "News" nothing changes and Todd Brunson still cries. Moving it is a way to underscore that we're really looking for a change to a more srs bns type of forum.

It's also something that Dynasty could use for those items that can't wait for the next issue of the mag.

Wanting to change one of the most popular forums on 2+2 is retarded.

wanting to improve the most popular forum by not scaring away the name players is not retarded IMHO. The benefit should far outweigh the loss.

Dids - you have the pulse on the forum today, your really nailing it IMHO. In your eyes who do you see would be the ideal mod (baring their own personal interest of course) for both the railtard and the news forum concepts?

Not really, it just depends what you want 2+2 to be. I'm pretty sure if given my own forum I could make it the most popular on 2+2. Yet those with an IQ greater than 90 would probably find it pretty much unbearable.

Page views aren't everything. Being able to read a thread without wading through FIRST, SECOND, [ ] thread delivers, is also important.

Well, I think that if Dynasty buys into what I'm suggesting, he might be a good News mod, but that's a huge if. Mostly I think the news mod would need to be pretty active and available. The best person for this job is really going to be the person who is invested enough to want the job.

In terms of railbirding, I'm not sure. I would suggest jman because he seems to pay attention, and in theory is having his forum yanked out from under him anyway. I think this is less about guiding content and more just about cleaning up garbage, so it doesn't have to be anybody specific, just something who is around and willing.

Nick,

I think we have some evidence of the negatives of NVG in terms of it pushing away some name pros and long term posters. I'm not sure we have evidence that it's current popularity is really a positive beyond simply "more clicks = gooder". I think that's a call for the Reds to make, but I doubt we'd really be shooting ourselves in the food by mixing things up.

Yea, if you don't like it, don't read the forum. Not all 8000 forums on 2+2 can cater to you.

Dids, if I went back in the archives, I bet your posts and diebitters posts wanting a stupid a+e forum are pretty much the same. good flip flop.
