Re: If you died today....
I've been to funerals where a thousand or so people showed up.
Right after I graduated high school, a good friend was shot in the head in a bowling alley. He was 22 and had 2 younger bros. and a younger sister. His visitation line stretched for blocks & blocks, and his poor parents and siblings had to endure greeting all those people for HOURS while they were numb with shock. 5 years later, his younger brother was killed in a motorcycle accident, and they had to do it all over again. That's when I decided that funerals are dumb. |

Re: If you died today....
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Or the grieving process is somehow cheapened or lessened for the living? [/ QUOTE ] i think it is. obv it is still sad that they died, but it seems strange grieving the death of someone who wanted to die. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah this is retarded. Just because the individual wanted to die does not mean his or her loved ones were ready for it, too. |

Re: If you died today....
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think I'll ever understand how someone can bring themselves to suicide. [/ QUOTE ] Honestly, I used to feel this way too. I never understood how someone could bring himself to do it. My dad's only brother killed himself back in the late 70s over a girl. I wasn't around at the time, but I have seen what something like that can do to a family. However, as I get older and more unhappy, it starts to make more sense to me. At least, I can understand how it could possibly get to the point where someone would consider suicide. |

[ QUOTE ] my 2 bowling buddies would probably just spread my ashes. [/ QUOTE ] This did not get enough love. best movie ever [/ QUOTE ] Awesome. My uncle who was a fantastic HS teacher recently died and he had hundreds upon hundreds of people come to his wake, so many more than we expected that it ran hours over. Pretty crazy to see someone loved so much and making a difference in so many people's lives. It was really inspiring. The one thing I requested for my own funeral is that I want it to be cheap, but I also want people to have a great time. I prefer if my funeral were themed based upon how I die. So I think I may do shark research later on in life. If I happen to die by shark attack, I expect every who shows up to dress as sharks, surfers and shark attack victims [a costume I wore often for halloween as a youngster]. Everyone needs a costume and everyone needs to get drunk and have fun. Two necessary requirements of my death. |
