Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
on second thought, given my ranges I think that lead folding the river for about half pot is probably better than check calling, since it eliminates the possibility that he would check behind AK, and I can't imagine him folding or raising with it.

why do you think he is angle-shooting as opposed to making a legitimate mistake? [/ QUOTE ] As I mentioned, 1) (second hand) physical tells 2) we don't know for certain whether he wanted to raise or call, but we're sure his range wants to raise in this spot a lot more often than it wants to call. |

betgo, why do you think he is angle-shooting as opposed to making a legitimate mistake? [/ QUOTE ] Yes. Typical players like this often telegraph when they have aces. Also, it doesn't seem like a reasonable mistake to make. I have made mistakes with chips, but not like that. The preflop tell also does not soun like AK or JJ. With a hand like that, he doesn't mind taking it down preflop that much. |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
todd I think you got it with the PFR amount and the later angleshoot. He has the nuts I fold turn if he used a 500 chip to raise PF and not 5 100s.

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
- tight player raising OOP from BB
- says raise in the sheepish "I have a monster" voice - seems adamant about "just calling" you could bet up against AA,KK, TT but these hands wouldn't "just call" the turn and let a gutshot get there, would they?? the "just call" could be As/Ks which is standard for top 2 with nut draw Zee, tell us more about him being super-proud of himself for bluffing the "old lady" mixed with you playing very tight after the flop and I will give you a river line |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
He has something really good, and he's not raising you because he's afraid you have QJ. Unless the board pairs, he's not going to raise your river bet.
He also might have called your turn bet expecting the Armenian to sqeeze w/air. |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
The fact that he was NOT upset at the ruling means a ton to me. I think if he meant to call and "accidentally" raised but felt like his chips in the middle were safe weather it's a call or a raise does point towards a big hand. I Don't think he checks TT or AK on the flop vs. two callers.

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
I just remembered that the chips for the Borgata ME (which were different than the chips used for the prelim events) had the chip denominations printed in extremely small numbers that blended into the background as well. At the beginning of the tournament, multiple players at my table commented on how difficult it was to read them. So the possibility of a mistake is a real one.

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT
I will guess the key is:
1) He waited 3 seconds after betting to say "call" (long enough to make it clearly a raise)(if someone is going to say call in a normal way they rarely wait 3 seconds). And, 2) He didn't start restating that he meant to call until the floor person was called over (knowing that by then it would definitely be ruled a raise). So, I think he is angle shooting with AA or KK. |
