Well it was a lot of fun. I'll write a longish post about it. First of all I have been going to this camp since I was about 10 years old and I love it. Its a great camp and I have a lot of friends there.

While I do enjoy working with kids (even though it gets very tiring sometimes) one of the main reasons I work there is for myself. I only made $1800 for the summer and I spent 1k of that but it is very good for me to work there. It forces me to be active and exercise a lot more than I used to so I get in better shape. It forces me to get away from poker which is very important. Too often I feel like poker can take over my life but by going away for the summer I get a good break from it which is very healthy. As well it is very good for me because the job teaches me many life lessons that are difficult to learn in other jobs. Even though a lot of people see being a camp counselor as sort of a joke job I honestly work very hard and IMO its a lot more difficult than a lot of other jobs. I mean whats harder? Working in an office plugging numbers into a spreadsheet or looking after the safety/wellbeing of 8 ten year olds while making sure they all have fun and get along with each other.

Everyone once in a while I think why don't I just stay at home get drunk sleep till noon, play poker and make a lot of money but ultimately I think working at camp is a much better experience for me.

If anyone has any other questions go for it.
