And? [/ QUOTE ] And it's bizarre how you can think that Mises.org is a great website yet think every one of their conclusions is 'borderline moronic'. |

There's is no contradiction in my first statement. The site is clear, rich and the articles are very comprehensible.
But I should probably have written some of this AC stuff, as I don't think every one of their conclusion is borderline moronic, just a couple of them. That being said, I've never read a website presenting a school of thought better than mises.org does. |

[ QUOTE ] Define market failure. Let me guess: the market doesn't provide enough of something that you personally subjectively think that it should, or provides too much of something that you personally subjectively think that it shouldn't. Fantastic definition of "failure" you statists have. [/ QUOTE ] Don't you think it would help if people like you had at least a basic understanding of some mainstream neoclassical economic concepts? And Neoclassicism doesn't necessarily call for government intervention to correct market failure. It's well aware of the possibility of goverment failure. [/ QUOTE ] Lol. Another one. |

Re: When gas hits $10 / gallon, we\'re totally [censored]
Buy a bottle of Evian.... that runs about 15 or 20 bucks a gallon doesn't it? What would a gallon of soy milk latte frapachino cappachino blah blah blah with a splash of cinnamon at starbucks cost you?
I agree... we need refinery capacity, and to drill Anwar, more in the sea around our coasts, and start looking at the Geo-rock based Petro. Most people dont realize that its more than just fuel... most plastics are petroleum based products. look around you... plastic is everywhere and has been cheap for many years. If those costs go up more, as they have for about 7 years.... that is another chunk out of everyones wallet. sorry for any misspellings....im almost done with vino bottle number two for the nite. not replying to you Boro...just a quick reply. you happened to be the last poster |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] One could accuse Borodog of many things, but failure to understand neoclassical economics is not one of them. Understanding why they aren't necessarily good models doesn't count as not understanding them at all. [/ QUOTE ] Then why would he ask for the definition of market failure and linking it to personal subjective thinking which has nothing to do with the mainstream concept of market failure? [/ QUOTE ] Because the "mainstream" concepts are fully understood and rejected by Austrian economics. [/ QUOTE ] there is a reason that "mainstrean" concepts are mainstream. |

Re: When gas hits $10 / gallon, we\'re totally [censored]
[ QUOTE ]
A gallon is about 3.5 liters, right? 1 liter of gas costs around 1.3 Euro here so we're at 4.55 Euro/gallon. Converted to $ that's 6.2$/gallon (at a rate of 1,3569) I'll tell you if we live once the doomsday scenario becomes true. That being said I can live an average day without actively using a single drop of gas or oil (pretty sure a lot of oil is used in the production of goods I purchase). [/ QUOTE ] The problem with us Americans is that we are spoiled. There are over 100 different type vehicles that get 40mpg and only two of them are available in the U.S. and they cost over 20k, compared to a Rio that costs 11k but only gets 30mpg. Can you imagine how much gas would not be burned every day, if the commuters in L.A. drove a car that got 40 MPG? Or how about every commuter in every major city in the U.S. It gives EXXON/MOBILE execs nightmares. The real problem though: It gives the avg american scarier nightmares to think about driving a compact car to work every day instead of their cool wheels. |
