[ QUOTE ] In the past 25 years no team had outscored their opponents by a 2-1 margin. Under Dilfer, the Ravens outscored their opponents by a 3-1 margin. [/ QUOTE ] '00 Ravens outscored opponents by 2.02-to-1 margin. (not 3-1) First other team I checked in the last 25 years.... '85 Bears outscored opponents by 2.30-to-1 And there could be more, but didn't bother after that... [/ QUOTE ] You are using the whole season, not after Dilfer took over. |

Re: random sports stats/facts that surprise you when you first hear th
Last place team in NFCS has won the division the following year 4 straight years. And each team has done it, concluding with Saints last year.
CAR went to SB, NO and ATL went to NFC title game even more amazingly [meaning they won at least one postseason game.] TB is up! |

Re: random sports stats/facts that surprise you when you first hear th
Carl Yastrzemski is the only MLB HOFer to have played in the Little League World Series. Jason Marquis also played in the LLWS, and I firmly believe he would probably lead his team to the title if he played again.

You are using the whole season, not after Dilfer took over. [/ QUOTE ] And yet comparing it to entire seasons of all other teams for the past 25 years? Seems like someone is trying real hard to contrive an interesting stat about the Ravens offense. |

[ QUOTE ]
At the time of his retirement, the National League's all-time home run leader for switch-hitters was Howard Johnson. [/ QUOTE ] This one really surprised me. Let's just take a quick browse through Tim Kurkjian's archive and see what I can pull up: Eddie Murray holds the all time sacrifice-fly record with 128 followed by Cal Ripken with 127. Don Mattingly is tied with Travis Hafner for the single season record for grand slams (6). Mattingly did not hit a grand slam after the season in which he hit 6. Robin Ventura had 19 career grand slams in 294 career grand slams. Willie Mays with 660 career homers had 8 grand slams. Dom DiMaggio led the AL in steals in 1950 with 15. I'll find some more later... |
