If I was listing fantastic places to eat in Seattle, I'm not sure top of the needle is where I'd start. I haven't been there myself, but I never here it mentioned by the local foodies. [/ QUOTE ] I would. The foods good, the view is amazing, BUT its overpriced and the wait is hella long. |

The chronic in the Seattle area is some of the best in the country. I know it's possible to get good weed anywhere but it is consistently excellent here. I've even seen Snoop Dogg talk about it... Hempfest is also excellent. It's always fun to smoke a bowl in a public park with 1000s of other people around, then look over to see some bike cops cruising around checking everything out but doing nothing. |

You will dig it here. I have found that people complain about Seattle in the context of already living here, not in the context of is it better than other places. So things I hear like "I hate the traffic" do have a lot of merit but if you follow it with "would you rather live in xxx, the traffic is not too bad", you quite often get "no way that place sucks in comparison.
Bottom line for me: best natural beauty of any US city, proximity of amazing outdoor activities is very hard to beat, progressively minded, not big on formality in the workplace (I wear jeans and T-shirt to work daily, as does my boss) and plenty of nightlife--not on a scale of NYC or LA but enough to keep you interested, and good food from all over the world. Cons are that the prevailing personality type is a big meek for me. I am from Cleveland and tell it like it is which doesn't always go over so well but f those folks anyway. A bit uppity nowadays with so much software $$$ around but there are still a lot of not so stuck up places to hang you just gotta look for them a bit harder. House prices are outrageous and it can be pretty expensive in general, but again, I know a lot of places to eat, drink, party for cheap too. There was a thread in EDGD a while ago on thing to do. Might be worth a look. Seattle: Your favortite things to do and places to go Maybe your arrival can result in a 2p2 meet-up, lots of folks from here that seem cool that I have never met. KJS |
