LOL@Gus is a bad player.

How many of you could fade the action in this HU match, continue putting money in over and over and losing to some of these same hands? And get the cheese in the end?

He may not be as strong as all the top online players, but there is a reason he is still playing at the high stakes, doing well in tourneys etc. He has a style that works for him.

Are people who say that Gus is really bad at poker just goofing around, or are they really that dumb?

He's really bad at HU to say the least, as are most generalist pros.

When did Gus become such a whiny bitch?

Back when he was a donk on UB he used to never whine or complain, but on FTP he constantly bitches about how unlucky he is.

I wouldn't really care except that Gus is one of the biggest luckboxes in the history of poker (due to winning tourneys at critical times and bouncing back from the brink of bustohoood).

Also Gus' style of play leads to him constantly putting bad
It's just [censored] annoying.

Wow, that turned into more of an angry rant than I intended.

[/ QUOTE ]

Was Gus really being that whiny? I didn't watch the match, but given the two comments "what happened" and "ok well done" are pretty tame as far as complaining goes.

Also, you guys who say Gus is bad are exaggerating. He is bad compared to most 25/50 or higher online NL players (same for PLO, though it seems he has improved from super donator to plain old loser). He is still a great tourney player (I know a lot of you don't respect that but it still gets the $$$) and is a big winner in O8 AFAIK. Saying he is bad at poker is like saying only the top 10% of MLB players are good at baseball.

[/ QUOTE ]

His comments weren't that bad but he does that a lot now, whining after pretty much every losing session it seems like.

As for him being a bad player I for one didn't actually say that. I am very mixed on this and I have played lots with Gus.

He is definitely bad at some games. At other games he often seems bad but he also seems to be a longterm winner (O8 as you mentioned).

He also plays tilty/stupid sometimes so it can be misleading if you judge him based on one of those sessions.

On the other hand almost everyone I know who has played with him a significant amount thinks he's bad and a losing player.

I kinda think he's overall break-even in terms of EV, which means that he has actually run supremely well in his career.
