james some good stuff in there. offering the dealer insurance is brilliant and i'm really disappointed i didn't invent it.

we differ on this one:

i actually love this situation. others at the table know pretty quickly that i want them to win - even if i lose huge hands, i generally spend my energy congratulating others on winning etc. however in these spots which have the potential to be kind of awkward i pretty much squash them entirely by nearly always saying "WELL AT LEAST I WON". the people seem to love it.

I was going to start a thread on how James changed my life, but I guess it fits here. Over the last year I have been a losing blackjack player, ever since my breakout year in 2005, I have been mired in mediocrity, I think there were a few reasons for this. My, new found love of craps, my dissatisfaction with any win under 50k and an overall crappy attitude that grew increasingly with every booked loss. Well, after a few hours of basking in the positivity that came with sitting at a table with James, his unbridled aggression, dealer taunts, and pure love of the game reminded me of a young IndieMatty, (albeit, thinner, better looking and richer). I think it really dawned on me, when James after hitting a 3k blackjack hand, put down one of his four, half empty corona bottles, and tossed two black chips to his table mates who had just suffered a loss. James shouted, "Are we gonna cry about it? We're a team, we all win here!"

This undefeatest attitude reminded me that it is indeed one long session, and if we keep plugging away, playing as a team, the casinos really will have no shot.

James, thanks for getting me back on track.

Diablo,

Can you please tell the crowd your tipping standards during play for the dealer. If there is one thing I learned from you this week, was the power of tip strategys during peaks and valleys in the session.

Thanks,
M

LA, it seems as though we have different styles at the table that are both successful for us in different ways. By all reports you are a pro's pro at the BJ table - if I were still in Vegas I imagine we could seriously cut right to the heart of the casino if we played our different styles at neighboring tables(if the pit could hold us both).

RE: DaveR's question... certain tables don't have a high-five mentality. These tables are not the table I am at. If you are at a table where high-fiving happens at all, the book says you can only high-five on a winner once the whole table has won or the people who have lost in the hand cheer for you. It's generally unacceptable to high five in a 4 person game where everyone has a made hand but not everyone wins. Unless the loser isn't part of your group and is some curmudgeon stooge who just bitches and moans all day and plays bad anyway.

James,

Please rank the blackjack table presence prowess of all the people you played with. Also, specific thoughts on going to whisper mode that one time.

[/ QUOTE ]

God whisper mode was one of the funniest things I've seen at a BJ table. For a moment the dealer actually thought James was crying.

Very solid report James.

[/ QUOTE ]

Man, I totally forgot about when I was pretending to cry. I guess we played a lot of BJ in this last week. Best time ever for those who can't tell! Too bad amy will always be the one that got away

Dom,

Terrible oversight on my part. I got caught up in so many things (as you can see, my weekend was pretty busy) that I forgot to look up some people. I missed CardSharpCook as well, not to mention the Mod Meetup. I am lame. Apologies! Drinks are on me next time you visit L.A.
