Mrs Robinson doesn't really belong in this thread.

But because I saw the Graduate four years after I first heard Mrs Robinson and it kind of ruined the song for me; I put it in here anyway.

I think some of these are good associations, like the Pixies at the end of Fight Club. I love that scene, and it wouldn't be the same without the song.

Sweet Home Alabama on the KFC commercials is awful. Hearing a Nirvana song in a movie (Jarhead) was disturbing too.

Hearing "Scentless Apprentice" in "Through the Looking Glass" (Lost S3 Finale) was awesome.

"Canon in D major" Composed by Johann Pachelbel.

This is a beautiful piece of music which I can only associate with "Ordinary People." It is frequently used as a wedding processional in Jewish weddings (not big fans of Strauss) and it always depresses me. I refused to have it played at my wedding.

funny, that song makes me think of 'the wonder years' episode where kevin takes piano lessons.

Fountains of Wayne's Stacy's Mom ruined by soccer mom Dr. Pepper commercial.

yeah, 'cause there was a lot to ruin there to begin with

(and i [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] fountains of wayne btw)

Disagree. Pure pop, strong chorus, good lyrics. The harmonies are worth the price of admission. Only the stuttering/repeating makes it a little cheesy.
