2. Walk over to attractive woman, introduce self.
3. Talk, flirt, ask for a date.
4. Repeat.

The devil is in the details, of course, but doing this once a day for 30 days will get you 2 dates even if 28 approaches are rejections.

You are 30. Unless you are looking for a 21-yo I think you are greatly underestimating 1) desperation/biological clock issues of 30yo women and 2) the huge number of a**holes most of said women have dated in the past (maybe you're one of them, it sounds probable by your post).

Cliffs Notes: once women approach 30 they are looking for someone sane, responsible, and who would treat them with respect. A sense of humor and good personal hygeine don't hurt either. Create a good ad on Lavalife or Match.com, way better than hoping to pick up "honeys" at da club.

While this is certainly true, I've found that meeting women through friends and family can lead to uncomfortable situations if and when things eventually go sour.

Although it's harder to go out and meet women on your own, in the long run, you'll probably be better off, unless you're actually looking to get married.
