I haven't played poker in months. Back when I played, I was a losing player. I stopped playing because I got bored with the game, though, not because of the money I lost.

I seriously doubt it. Notice that Beatme1 never said how much she cashed out.... I suspect that she made several times the amount that was seized. BTW where is Beatme1 now?

I started playing real money poker in October '06.

Online I have been a steady loser. I 'invested' $1000, was almost busto, then about two months ago, things changed. I hit a rush, and did a small ($200) cashout, My roll now fluctuates between $200 and $400.

I attribute that to more often making the right decisions, picking the right game, staying at a level that I can make a profit, not risking large chunks of my BR at any one time, and getting lucky at the right time.

Live, with a similar investment, but over a shorter time, I have about 75% of my investment.

If it wasn't for poor luck, poor decisions, and poor BR management, I would be way ahead.

At one time I thought it did not impact the game, but I've changed my mind about collusion - I think this explains a big part of why winning online is more difficult than winning in a B&M (when was the last time you heard anyone complain, "why is it so much harder to win in a real poker room than it is online?"). Where there's a means to get people to part with their money, there are going to be people who are willing to do it. You just have to play a tighter game, I guess; change tables a lot.
