Re: Making Yourself Unreadable: A Debate
haven't read all the posts yet, but here's my take on the first few...
the goal is NOT to make urself unreadable...if u are, u'll be seen more often than not AND u will be lynched by villagers eventually as 'can't keep him alive til must lynch' say u have a game with 7 unreadables and 2 'readables'...u could spend the game lynching the 7 unreadables so they don't last until must lynch and the 2 are the wolves and win if they play a decent game where people read them as villagers u become a liability to village when u are unreadable and u become a big seer target, which = doom as wolf ur goal isn't to be unreadable...it's to be good enough to help village most of the time, but not too good at finding wolves, or u'll get eaten too early and u'll be lynched when u don't find all the wolves |

Re: Making Yourself Unreadable: A Debate
Nich, you don't get lynched if you're unreadable if you're also good at being a wolf, and you can read people fairly well.
Yes, you also become a fairly large seer target, but w/e, force the seer to claim you as a wolf. If you're perfectly unreadable, village will see you as a liability for it, and that's probably actually bad, but then, you just have to work wolf magic. And if you're decent at reading people, it's definitely a liability you can run. |

Re: Making Yourself Unreadable: A Debate
Uh yeah, exactly, if you're unreadable, you become a fallback lynch, and probably end up getting lynched day 1 a fair bit.

Re: Making Yourself Unreadable: A Debate
well I mean obviously the best wolf metagame is to somehow constantly have this:
People think they can read you But they don't read you as a wolf when you're a wolf which is better than Complete Unreadability which is better than Getting lynched on d1 more often than not due to a poor metagame choice or action which is better than your villgaer game is obvious, and when you're a wolf, everyone knows it but of course, it's all a wash because all paths converge to complete unreadability |

So... play every game like it's your last?

Theory:
Metagame play should ALWAYS be backward looking, not forward looking, because it's only justifiable when you're using it to adapt to what your opponents already know about you. |

Here's the end of this thread. In fact, this should be self-evident to everyone, if you consider winning as being more important than proving how smart you are.
Here is the goal of good werewolf: [ QUOTE ] B. Actions you do both as a village and wolf [/ QUOTE ] Have nothing outside this category. There, now we can all get back to playing and having fun. |

Re: Making Yourself Unreadable: A Debate
I'll expand that: You should play every game the same, regardless of role...

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, you're wrong. You can achieve that by acting like a complete moron and never posting any content whatsoever in any role, but is that really optimal? You need more than a single dismissive statement to address that, though. |
