Yes, the media is controlling this debate and most of its parameters. Very sad.

Typical debate. Brian Williams asked several candidates how they would pay for their health care plans. Nobody actually answered the question asked. I would like the candidates to be interrupted and forced to answer the damn question.

Edwards said he would be rolling back the Bush tax cuts.

And that will increase revenue how?.....

Less tax cuts for the rich = more money for government

His idea is that with the money from increasing the taxes on the rich will be enough to pay for his health care plans.

I don't agree with him so please don't reply to me like I think this whole thing is a good idea.

Typical "static economy" blather... Increasing taxes can stunt growth in the economy and lower revenue to the govt. I think JFK was the last Democrat to understand this principal. JFK was closer in idealogy to the repub candidates than he is to the dem candidates. My how the party has changed.....ultra left socialist shift in past few decades.

Government getting involved in healthcare more than they already are is ultra left....

Anyway...look at the yachting industry. The dems wanted to stick it to the rich and put a luxery tax on yachts. (tax increase) The rich said screw this I wont buy a yacht. Thousands lose the job they rely on....all those income taxes are now lost, the sales taxes on yachts that are no longer being bought are now lost, and the corporate taxes are now lost. (but the dems got the tax increase they wanted)...so now you cut the tax...and all that revenue is realized again....(a tax cut now has generated more revenue)
We live in a dynamic economy....a tax increase does not equal more revenue. The carter admin is a great example of this principal. Some of you might not remember those days, but we had a misery index to measure public misery, gas lines and shortages, inflation was huge, but at least we had a high tax rate on the wealthy...I believe it was 70%.
Hooray Jimmy!!!!!!

A little blast from the past for ya.... from 1978, I'm not sure, but govt tends to add much more than they repeal...so I'm guessing its worse now than it was 29 years ago. http://alanchapman.org/libertyvault/...gton.html#CH02

Notice all the taxes on bread, milk, eggs etc. Who do you think gets hurt by all these taxes the most? My bet is that when the producers, transporters, sellers of this kind of product pass these taxes on to the consumer...the poor get hurt much more than the rich.

What we have now is a repub party doing the best they can to look like the dems of 1950-1985, and the dem party trying to turn America into a socialist type state incrementally.

Ron Paul for President!!!!!
