Re: KQs street by street
Tickner: The idea behind the check/call on the flop here is to wait until we have a stronger equity edge over villain's range to start dumping money in. Most of the hands that would get money in on the flop either crush us or are in decent shape.

Re: KQs street by street
I agree with bobbofitos, you need to squeeze this OOP preflop, and you need to bet the river bigger you're leaving value on the table

He thought about it for a few seconds then folded. MHIG, thanks all for replies.
How do you like villan's play with a hand like A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]? |

Re: KQs street by street
orange:
With this hand, I don't feel to bad building up a little bit of a pot, since we have a lot more equity vs lots of holdings. Also, since this is a once raised pot, we'll still have a lot of chips left for the turn. Furthermore, I don't really like a c/r that much, here, because you don't want to let him get the last raise in. If you do let him get the last raise in, all those broadway/pair+flush draws have a chance to get it in with a ton of equity, which isn't really what you want. Furthermore, check/raising lets off all worse hands that aren't drawing extremely live, unless he is terrible. So, you have two options: a) You can bet/call a raise, planning on bombing the turn, first to act. b) You can c/c, and then use your line. The problem with line a is that you pass up on free cbet monies, and take down the pot, a lot of the time, and maybe blow out a free monies from the fish. It has the benefit of getting a lot more money in the pot, when he does raise, and lets you charge him a lot for only one card, but of course, you lose that on the turn, sometimes. The problem with line b is that you give him a cheap card with a lot of hands that might outdraw you, that wouldn't even call a bet. I like line a more if you think there's a large chance that he'll bluff raise you, raise you with just the bare A, or overvalue a worse hand a lot. I like line b more if you think he folds too much to that first bet. Pot's small, so it's not too costly to let one card come off. Consider a c/r though if the donkey calls in the middle, although I don't like it that much. Given that you went with b, I like your bet sizing very much, and I'd fold to a raise, on the river, vs this guy. I'm not getting away on an earlier street, though. |

I raise/fold pf [/ QUOTE ] I would never fold here PF, and in this spot, I prefer a call to a raise. [ QUOTE ] I don't like getting involved OOP with marginal hands when I'm not the aggressor [/ QUOTE ] I can't believe you think KQs is marginal here. [ QUOTE ] you are going to win mostly small pots and lose big ones. [/ QUOTE ] Hero is suited. |

[ QUOTE ] c/r [/ QUOTE ] This seems really bad here. Letting this flop get checked through would be a disaster. [/ QUOTE ] There is only $25 in the pot. |
