Jever Pils FTW!

Ye-wer (soft 'v', flat 'r') is sold all over Germany, but it's from the Northern Area, that's correct. I like it because of it's bitter taste.

Can I visit Germany not knowing a lick of German and still be able to communicate fairly well with most people? How bi-(or tri, quad, whatever)lingual is the majority of the population?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, most people will understand you more or less, if not they will communicate 'mit Händen und Füßen' which means they will use gestures to help/ chat with you. Most germans are very helpful and friendly to visitors. I don't know exact numbers, but it's not like in sweden, where english is the second language.

How did you bastards deal with having such a close game with the US in the 2002 World Cup? Do you feel lucky that the blatant hand ball on the goal line wasn't called?

[/ QUOTE ]

I've to admit that I can not remember that specific game. I'm more into motor sports. And I like American Football, but my pay tv broadcaster didn't show the NFL this year. Beat.

We drink more beer than the rest of the world, and that keeps us in shape.
